This two-bedroom, two bathroom 100sq metre apartment is located in the heart of Mayfair, and NLS were involved in a full architecture and interior specification, including the creation of several bespoke fixtures and fittings.
The client brief called for the apartment to be given the same level of detail, craft and quality as a five star hotel, with fittings and accessories to match. The inspiration behind the use of materials and forms - in particular marble, oak and veneer - was the lavish set design of Cedric Gibbons in the 1920s.
South Audley Street features a fireplace made from dark Nero Marquina marble, with a fluted vertical surface forming a centrepiece to the sitting room. The ensuite bathroom has walls of white Statuario marble, while the second bathroom includes a single piece of Calacatta marble hollowed out to form the basin. Solid oak and oak veneers are used throughout to give bookshelves and cabinetry a uniform, deco-style look.
All doors are frameless, with bronze ironmongery and skirting details. The work included the installation of a custom AV system, concealing modern convenience and technology in a classically elegant environment.
