Sounds, 4rest focuses on the already established architectural form of containers at Platform Changdong 61, the past content of the location, Madel Plain, and the current content, music. The containers are transformed into flower pots, the golden waves of Madel Plain into foliage planted in the pots, and music into sound.
On the container roofs, standardized seedbeds are planted and grow. The forest, planted with metal materials reminiscent of containers, creates unintended sounds through natural phenomena such as wind, rain, and light, becoming a so-called ‘Sound Forest’.
The materials are aluminum pipes inspired by the metallic nature of containers, with 1,986 pipes planted, extracted from the year 1986 when Madel Plain existed. The square modules on the ground are derived from seedbeds for planting rice, and the rice ears planted in the seedbeds grow abundantly, forming a forest. The skyline of this forest resembles the peaks of Dobongsan Mountain: Manjangbong, Seoninbong, and Insu-bong. Throughout the forest, there are wind chimes that create sounds like scarecrows. Here, you can watch the wind through the swaying pipes, touch the sounds by shaking the wind chimes, meet Madel Plain, and stroll through the forest.
