Sonic Automotive, a Fortune 500 automotive retailer, purchased the Cotswold Professional Center with a goal of transforming the 1970's built, seven-story high rise into a new corporate headquarters facility for its 175 employees. In addition to infrastructure upgrades, state-of-the-art technology and unique branding elements were a major client focus.The building was stripped down to structure and given a modern metal panel and glass curtain wall skin to provide extensive natural day lighting. Mechanical and electrical systems were updated to accommodate a modern computer intensive environment. Core elements including restrooms and elevator cab interiors and systems were reworked to comply with ADA and increase speed and capacity.The interior design showcases custom branding elements throughout incorporating flat panel, high definition screens centrally controlled to allow for changing product displays. Custom controlled lighting systems coordinate interior and exterior lighting and extensive audio visual systems allow for state-of-the-art board meetings. Office fronts incorporate clear glazing to maximize natural lighting and interaction while the use of walnut wood veneer on case goods and wall panels throughout lends warmth.The Ground floor features executive exercise facilities, with custom spa, steam showers, sauna, and locker area. On the third level, a sub dividable break area provided for the employees incorporates lounge and window counter seating to promote a cafe ambiance. Level six houses a high tech e-commerce area and network operations center with an exposed ceiling system behind clear glass. The top floor, with corner executive offices supported by individual bathrooms, includes dual board rooms, stone flooring, walnut wood paneling, and custom metal ceiling systems.
