Located in the city of Los Angeles, this house was commissioned by the well-known saxophon player and the CEO of Wild Fox Couture, Jimmy Sommers. The lot is on a steep slope, which required a split-level design of several floors following the irregular form to the hill, using the earth-sheltered roofs to integrate it into the leafy vegetation of the hill, and at the same time taking into account both the owner’s requirement and the strict local building codes.
The front door to the house is located on the top floor, with an elevator and a staircase dividing each floor into two halves. There is a spacious dining area, kitchen and living room separated from a parking area by a wall of glass, which permits contemplation of the cars from any point. The office is on the other extreme of the top floor. The whole floor is surrounded by a terrace which includes gardens and paved areas, creating diverse spaces, with perimeter planters allowing plants to fall on the façade.
he second floor houses the master bedroom as well as the guest bedrooms, with a large recreational space which includes a bar, a billiard table and a stage.Adjacent to the master bedroom there is a large walk-in-closet which opens on to a patio with a water feature and a spectacuar bathroom with a sauna, steam bath, as well as a shower and bathtub. The bathroom extends outside via class bridges which pass over small ponds to an exterior jacuzzi which is bordered by a green wall with a waterfall which falls into the jacuzzi.
This floor is semi-covered and includes a swimming pool area. A recording studio is housed in the interior as well as a home cinema. Dressing rooms and the service area are located on the other extreme. Both the top and bottom floors are connected by a road through the garden.
