The purpose
behind the reconstruction of the cinema was
to form a union between the building and the square. “If the red square is the
heart of Moscow, Pushkin square is considered its soul”. Similarly, the main
design concept is based around the metal mesh extending from the building down
into the square.
We have maintained
the framework of the building, without
making any interior alterations in accordance with the parameters of this competition. We made an effort to
update the exterior without compromising
the fundamental architectural elements of the structure.
As such, the characteristic tilt of the sides has been emphasized alongside the
glass front view of the building.
Τhe
building has been predominantly
covered in a metal grid network
which incorporates thermal sensors. Any subsequent change in temperature prompts a change
in colour in the thermal sensors . These
color changes will
be the main feature of the metal grid and a key focal
point of the proposal as a whole. Colours will vary from
blue in extremely cold temperatures, to red at high temperatures. As a
result, colouring of the building will change seasonally. The desired colour can also be chosen, depending on any different event
that will take place in the cinema.
