SOLA, located between city and countryside, is an office building of a gas distribution company. This building adopts the structure called “Solar Wrapping” to be a ecologically friendly office as well as a comfortable working space.
SOLA is wrapped in the gifts of the earth: sunlight, breeze, and solar heat. The “Solar Wrapping” structure spreads sunlight all the way to the first floor, while the temperature difference caused by the difference in elevation creates an updraft and brings a natural breeze indoors. Especially during the summer, by bringing in cool air from the outside at night and releasing heat through the hatch of the roof, the working space is kept cool. During the winter, “Solar Wrapping” structure warms the office by circulating the warm air in the top of the building down to the first floor.
