The former office space of Gangdong KT in Seoul has been converted into a café lit through many small holes of perforated birch plywood ceilings. Our intention was to provide a sort of very cosy environment for those who would like to recover from their tiresome as if they were in the middle of forest. In order to create such a soft atmosphere like forest, we applied two layers of laser-cutted birch plywood panels with artificial lights between them. As if a single sun light gets filtered through leaves or branches into a beautiful gradient, we intended to create a space full of small changes between materials and lights rather than a contrast.
