MOSCOW + SNOWFLAKE
= CONTEXT
Creating a new,
permanent ‘snowflake spectacle’ within MoscowMoscow is renowned in the world by its picturesque scenes
of white during winter. However, there have been many suggestions to rid the
city of snow, by utilitising new technologies in weather modification - setting
the scene of winters without snow in Moscow.
The design embraces the idea that snow is an ‘icon’ of Moscow. The building shall be portrayed as a
contemporary, permanent ‘snowflake spectacle’ within Moscow.
ONEGIN STANZA =
CONCEPT
Remembering Alexander Pushkin in the design
The Pushkinsky Theatre is named after renowned Russian
Poet Alexander Pushkin. One of Pushkin’s
famous creations was the Onegin Stanza (or Pushkin Sonnet), firstly depicted in
novel Eugene Onegin. The stanza has 14 lines of iambic tetrameter rhyming:

This is translated to architectural digital language
with:

A singular
‘snowflake’ module is created. Modules are then joined to each other creating
a pattern. The size and location of the
