Inspired by the urban fabric of Istanbul, our design for a market (or Pazar in Turkish) reimagines Istanbul’s lively streets meandering through the city’s undulating hills, as a series of ramps coiling around a central courtyard. The market stalls are punctuated along the ramps as a series of modules. Sunlight filters into the centre of the courtyard from a skylight in the funnel-shaped roof of the gallery above, through its checkered glass floor.
