RAZUMMEDIA was commissioned to provide extensive documentation the Sloane Mansion on the Upper East Side of Manhattan as a part of a major restoration effort. Built in 1905, the mansion underwent a period of neglect during the latter part of the 20th century. The lower floors retain many of their original details, while the upper floors were haphazardly split into several unremarkable apartments. Recently, the property was bought out by a single owner, with the intent of turning the 18,000 sf building into one of the most lavish residences in Manhattan. The renovation includes a total restoration of the existing historical details, as well as thorough reimagining of many of the spaces and total infrastructural upgrades. The goal of our commission was to produce a series of elevational photographs that could be used directly on the architects drawings. Because of the complexity of the details in the historical rooms, the architect wanted high contrast, exceedingly detailed photography of each room elevation, which would be more accurate than drawn information. For each room, we planned out the camera position for every photograph, insuring consistency between the photographs that can almost be used for scaled measurements. Several lighting setups were blended for each photograph, producing the most detailed edge information possible.
