When reknowned wallpaper company Flavorpaper opened their New York headquarters in Brooklyn, they selected VERDANT to create a captivating landscape for their expansive rooftop. The lush ever-changing landscape reflects the dynamism and sensibilities of the wallpapers created in the studios below.
In a neighborhood where it’s most common to put planters and pots on terraces and roofs, the client and design team envisioned a bold gesture, dedicating a significant amount of space to a tapestry of greenery, colors, and textures. Flavorpaper works with the leading designers and architectural firms in the city, and their roof has been the site of numerous events and parties. As part of a larger gut renovation, VERDANT collaborated with Portland-based architects Skylab on the rooftop meadow. We installed a roof-wide, 12-inch deep planting overflowing with an arrangement of native grasses and wider leaf perennials.
Framed by the custom concrete pavers, a black steel parapet, and pyramidal skylights, the meadow provides ever-changing movement of textures, color, and light — echoing the vibrancy of Flavorpaper and their products.
