After researching the etymological meaning of these words and relating them to each other I thought of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a plant process in which during daylight CO2 molecules are absorbed and joined with the H2O molecules to expel oxygen. On its counterpart, at night, during an internal process, the food needed for the plant is expelled inside its stroma. I found this process to have a symmetry and reflection that became the starting point for my visual project.
During the graphical representation process, I experimented with several techniques, creating shapes and a composition that would unveil a “hidden symmetry”, as in photosynthesis, with a reflected counterpart to complete and balance the whole.
The final result is a composition in which the reflection of the shapes, part of a greater whole and dependent on each other, creates a balanced equation. The symmetry is less evident as they form part of a dynamic composition in constant flux.
