Set within the hillside, the stepped three-story home maximizes the available land and connects the home to the landscape. Derived from the surrounding landscape, the color palette and material selection includes stone veneer, corten metal, and polished concrete flooring. The living room and dogtrot room are divided by a large two sided stone fireplace. The two bedroom wings are placed on either side of the social center, accessed by glass halls which in warm weather are opened to create outdoor rooms adjacent to the bedrooms. Throughout the home, roof decks and patios extend the living space into the landscape. The home is sustainable heated with radiant tube in the slab powered by ground source geothermal loops, constructed with prefabricated SIP panel and uses smart glass technology as wall as thermal curtains to keep the house snug in winter and cool in summer.
