Six Gun Table

Firm
YEAR
2010
I have recently teamed up with Six Gun Custom Drums who donated a custom coffee table to the Sea No Evil Art Benefit to preserve and protect the oceans of the world. This will be the third year in a row that they have donated their time and products for auction. All the proceeds have been donated to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, definitely a worthy cause.
The Six Gun Table was created with the idea that scraps/byproducts of production are not waste but rather can be reconfigured into other useful design solutions with a little bit of thought. The design is assembled using three existing drum shells that are cut about their center axis' and then routed along their rounded edge to interlock with three plywood shelves which slide through the slit, interlocking to be both functional and aesthetically satisfying. The shelves appear to float lightly between the balanced play of curves of the drum shells as though they were attached along a single axis' instituting a rather strong structural system that allows for storage and support for the glass top. Spare pieces of drum-specific hardware are then used to secure the table together enhancing the tectonics of the design.
