The Sinuating Flow high-rise proposal pays homage to Sichuan’s unique geography, surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges and situated in a basin. The design draws inspiration from the region’s characteristic landforms, lush natural resources, and flourishing water bodies that meander from the mountains to the valleys. Sichuan's rich and diverse topography serves as a muse for this proposal, harmonizing with its surrounding environment and embracing the beauty of it.
The Tower design illustrates the traces of falling water streams over a bluff, forming a hugging curvature to the facade shape. The curve is articulated gently and carefully, so to remain organic and not overpowering to the city scape. As it trickles down the ground, the green glazing of the curtain walls show a reference to the natural and familiar phenomena JiuZhaiGou located at the Sichuan region; best known for its vibrant lakes. The reflection of green in the sky then adds a dynamic presence throughout the day and the different seasons.
The Podium consists of a series of cascaded plateaus, featured with lush green over the terrace edge at each level. The rich plantation of landscape is designed to be integrated with the podium facade, aiming to celebrate the relationship between the city and nature. It intends to recreate the sense of movement through landscape and re-connects people to the natural environment. This central ‘green’ experience is well balanced with the sternness of natural stone on the facade, which is revealed partially at the terraces and fully at the the grand entrance of the podium.
The proposal seeks to seamlessly integrate with the natural landscape and celebrate the unique characteristics of the Sichuan region. It aims to achieve a delicate balance between urban living and nature, creating a sense of movement and connection that redefines the urban experience. This iconic building is not only an architectural innovation and beauty but also a humble endeavor to represent the rich cultural heritage and ecological diversity of the region.
