Family meal as the key concept for a housing typology.
The project focuses on the complete overhaul of the interior space and garden of a 70’s townhouse in Póvoa de Varzim.
The original interior, too confuse and with a lot of dead spaces, was completely redesigned according to the client’s requirements with the minimal structural impact. Because this family loves to cook and have long meals together, the kitchen is itself the main social space of the house, though it was extended longitudinally throughout the house and to the exterior by the reconfiguration of the courtyard. Confection and meal areas merge and symbolize the family’s welcome card.
The main intention was to clarify the interior space without compromising a casual and uncommitted appropriation of their inhabitants.
