– House on the Hillside – The Hinderberg in Egolzwil rises above the lake and the lower village. Amid the heavily built-up hill, a green gap where sheep graze catches the eye. The young clients are building a single-family home with a secondary apartment on this sloping site.
The approach via the Rainacher neighborhood street reveals the complex architectural challenges posed by the plot and its surroundings. The new building divides the property, creating two distinct sides. At the front of the house, a sunlit terrace offers sweeping views over the Wauwilermoos and the Alpine range. Behind the house, the view extends upward to the Buechwald forest.
The terraced slope is reflected in the tall entry-level floor, with the building emerging above a solid base level. On Level 1, the children's rooms, an office, and the separately accessed secondary apartment are located. The parents’ quarters and the open-plan living and dining room, which extends to the gable and provides expansive views, are situated on Level 2.
