Singha is the oldest and one of the largest beer breweries in Thailand. Their products nowadays ranged from beer, alcohol, non-alcohol, snacks, etc. Singha pavilion was exhibited in Kaset fair, the most famous agriculture fair in Thailand. In 2014, the theme of Kaset fair was “Sustainability”. The purpose of Singha pavilion is to show their innovative and sustainable products that create a better life for Thai people. "Sustainable materials for sustainable pavilion" was what design team had to keep in mind. Therefore, creatives and designers had to try their best to reuse and recycle the waste from Singha manufacturing process. Pavilion should not create the new waste, but it should reduce the waste. The façade of the pavilion was created by reused wood palette that used in transportation of the beer. Some interior panel and furniture were made of wasted barley composite board which is an innovative project developed by Singha and architectural researcher in Kasetsart university. One of the most difficult problems of this pavilion was how to create an eco-friendly structure yet still be able to communicate the Singha brand image. Design team decided to pick up some Thai motif of Singha logo as an inspiration, then transform that tradition Thai motif into a contemporary and sustainable pattern façade. Solid and void of the checker pattern on the façade was not only allow wind to pass through but it can also filter the strong sunlight of Thailand. This is one of a few projects in Thailand that we can create an outdoor pavilion without air-conditioner.
