A haven for respite and revelry, Silver Sands Motel has welcomed locals, travelers, and drop-in visitors since the 1950s. This property was carefully rejuvenated by Leroy Street Studio and Hollander Design in collaboration with Alexander Perros, owner and creative director, to create a relaxed and unfussy experience on Long Island’s North Fork.
Nestled at the end of a wooded road on the crescent shores of Pipes Cove, the project sits on 1,400 linear feet of private, sandy beach facing Shelter Island. The project adhered to a philosophy of responsible development, respecting the delicate ecosystem surrounding Silver Sands. This focus on sustainability informed every detail—from the service and offerings to the furniture, color palette, and garden design—creating a harmonious environment.
