Silver Rock Residence
Bainbridge Island, WA | Residential, Regenerative Design
Nestled in a forest glade on Bainbridge Island, the Silver Rock Residence is a modest, net-zero-ready family home designed by McLennan Design. Thoughtfully sited to preserve mature trees and optimize natural light, the three-bedroom home centers around a two-foot-thick rammed earth wall and uses reclaimed and FSC-certified woods throughout. Floor-to-ceiling glazing, seamless indoor-outdoor flow, and charred Shou Sugi Ban cedar siding foster a deep biophilic connection while minimizing embodied carbon. Silver Rock exemplifies regenerative, resilient architecture—balancing simplicity, permanence, and harmony with its natural surroundings.
