Sigar bespoke is a menswear customization shop, a local brand with great originality. It’s located in Lingnan Xintiandi, the landmark of Chancheng district, Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. To emphasize the importance of the brand design concept of “customization” and to echo the brand, the designer created a well-fitting 'cloth device' in the space designing.
As a long and narrow rectangular shape, with stairs right in the middle separating the whole space and the windows scattered at random, a massive change in design is neither feasible nor sensible. The designers followed the architectural space and managed to combine art installations with functions to make the most of the existing features. Therefore to achieve simplicity and the acme of perfection.
The design concept is derived from cloth weaving. The constructors welded round iron pipes to build the frames, and then they manually threaded black rattan back and forth and circled around the frame. The process of crisscrossing metalwork simulates textile weave. These threads slowly form a tense surface, and the surface curves upon the frame and gradually create a curving wall, softening the original strong spatial relationship of the building. Form is not only a function, but also an art installation, which integrating the three with pure design techniques. Emphasis on the description of the first impression of customization let the guests feel that the space and product are sharing the same value.
The style of the furniture on display is also customized by the designers according to the characteristics of the project. It’s used to create a dark ambience.
To distinguish from many other familiar gentlemen’s store clichés, a different experience is created in the space design. The designers adopted the innovative concept rather than simply follow the formal and calm space image of the traditional suit customization shop. By focusing on the limitations and possibilities of the existing space and on displaying the suiting itself, the designers create the maximum design value with limited budget, manage to emphasize the experience of "customization" to customers, and meanwhile echo the brand. So that a newly created brand can get great brand effect.
