The five story mixed-use affordable housing project for people living with disabilities is a sustainable building for the City of West Hollywood. The building serves as a model for the city’s Green Building Ordinance. The building contains forty-two one bedroom units, organized around an internal second story courtyard. Commercial / Retail space is located along the Boulevard. Parking is provided at grade and at the subterranean parking levels. The courtyard features an eccentric brace frame core that is a fundamental structural component expressed as a five story organic garden lattice. The outdoor courtyard (bamboo forest) provides a cooling microclimate and a garden for residents from which access to the units is provided.
