The project is located in Shunde District which has become one of the most affluent counties in China. The project is part of a grand civic masterplan that includes the administrative government building, the Shunde Library and the Shunde Performance Center. It is sited on an important parcel within the masterplan directly adjacent to the green axis park and designated to have one of the two towers that form the gateway of the masterplan. The proposed 230m tall tower is placed directly opposite the Poly Business Tower, symmetrical along the axis, reinforcing the intent of the masterplan design. Along Xing Ye Road an inviting and grand civic space is created due to the design’s simple horizontal podium volumes and generous proportions of the plaza space that allows permeability between the Western and Eastern public spaces. This plaza extends around the corner along Jin Gui Road forming an L-shaped public frontage addressing the vibrant Xing Ye Road to the south and the Green axis to the east. The tower addresses Jin Gui Road and the Green Axis in a formal manner, allowing the tower volume to engage directly with the ground plane therefore creating a strong presence at street level and when viewed from the green axis. The placement of the taller Data Centre buildings to the north of the site helps to prevent overshadowing within the project site. By placing these buildings away from the active edges of the site, access to vault facilities is more controlled and more secure.
