Shorenstein Realty Services selected Gertler & Wente Architects to design their New York headquarters within their newly acquired property at 850 Third Avenue. The 11,000 s.f. space had the benefit of commanding views of midtown Manhattan from the 17th floor, and included a 7,000 s.f. undeveloped wraparound terrace on three sides. Utilizing glass office walls, up-lighted coffered ceilings, white textured limestone walls, bamboo floors, and a back-lit acrylic feature wall at the reception area the design takes advantage of natural light playing across textures, patterns and colors to create a rich, but restrained work environment. Multiple conference rooms with teleconferencing capabilities were included. Gertler & Wente Architects worked with H.M. White Site Architects in developing the undulating and varied landscape design punctuated with natural plantings, trees, seating areas and exterior sculptures.
