The Shore Blocks project marries modern design with ecological sensitivity, transforming a long segment of concrete bulkhead into a dynamic pocket beach that is both people and fish-friendly. Inspired by the home’s architectural lines, the landscape includes rectangular Valdes sandstone blocks onshore and in the water, which minimize wave impact while providing inviting spaces for recreation. The sustainable shoreline redesign integrates native plants and a gravel beach to foster habitat for birds, fish, and insects, enhancing local biodiversity.
The lakeside renovation extends to new outdoor living areas, with large rectangular stone pavers connecting the beach to a terrace with a custom fire feature and elevated dining space, offering expansive garden and lake views. A steel raised planter supports an edible garden, while the landscape’s pollinator-friendly plants enrich the environment. The garden's ornamental, pollinator-attracting plants include species such as Daphne and Hydrangea, enhancing biodiversity. Native shore plantings—such as Shore Pine and Wild Mock Orange—complete this project. The result is a harmonious, functional landscape that promotes ecological health while enhancing lakeside enjoyment, creating a balanced retreat that meets both human and environmental needs.
