The idea to shift away the Terrace House end lot to allow for an internal courtyard and private family space. These result the house has been independent shifting the paradigm of a terrace house to a bungalow.
This project expresses a refined contemporary residential architecture defined by clarity of form, volumetric precision, and a restrained material palette. The design is composed through a series of interlocking geometric masses, where solid white planar surfaces are contrasted against exposed fair-faced concrete, lightweight metal screening, and expansive glazed openings. The architectural language is minimalist, yet spatially rich, producing a residence that feels both monumental and carefully articulated.
The front elevation establishes a strong civic presence through a controlled composition of asymmetrical forms, recessed planes, and cantilevered volumes. The projecting upper mass, wrapped in a delicate screened enclosure, gives the building a distinct identity while simultaneously modulating privacy, daylight, and ventilation. The entrance sequence is deliberately understated, using walls, gates, and layered thresholds to create a gradual transition from public realm to private domain.
Internally, the project is organized around a series of interconnected double-volume spaces and open courts that bring natural light deep into the house. The spatial planning emphasizes porosity, visual continuity, and cross-ventilation, allowing the interior to maintain a constant relationship with the courtyard and external landscape. Full-height glazing enhances transparency and blurs the boundary between inside and outside, while the central stair volume becomes an architectural promenade that choreographs movement vertically through the house.
The courtyard functions as the environmental and experiential heart of the residence. Rather than being treated as leftover open space, it is conceived as an internal landscape that mediates light, air, and outlook. This strategy softens the robustness of the concrete surfaces and introduces a calm, contemplative atmosphere to the living environment.
Materially, the project relies on a disciplined palette of white plastered walls, grey tiled surfaces, raw concrete textures, and perforated metal balustrades. This restrained expression reinforces the architectural intent, allowing form, proportion, and light to become the primary spatial drivers. Overall, the residence demonstrates a sophisticated integration of massing, structure, and environmental responsiveness, resulting in a house that is both architecturally bold and spatially serene.
