The Sherman residence, a single-family commission, juxtaposes distinctively private and public faces. A series of board-formed concrete volumes create a strong sense of enclosure along the private face while connective glass volumes are galleries housing the interstitial spaces for circulation relate to the extraordinary landscape of the site. Situated at the base of a hill, the house bounds a courtyard and swimming pool on three sides. The hillside encloses the fourth side of the courtyard, bringing nature into graphic relief throughout the home.
