The project was located on the Yangchong River, Baoan, Shenzhen. The architect, apart from satisfying the traditionally significant transportation links and water control functions, considered the possibility of extending its communal nature, using the bi-directional gaps and height discrepancies of bridges and sluice gates, to insert in a timely manner a multi-dimensional ‘Z’-shaped footpath, undulating irregularly among or atop the structures. People could choose either to pass through quickly or to walk slowly upwards and stop to gaze into the distance at the two banks of the Yangchong River.
