The project was located in Xiangmi Park, Futian, Shenzhen. The building’s function was that of an official wedding registration office. The splendour of "a paper promise" was extended and journeyed circuitously with the experience of space, with the help of Chinese landscape garden composition techniques, to create an ideal realm in which the scene changes step by step and gradually invokes ultimate enjoyment. Chinese and western assembly halls are the spatially most important ceremonial buildings: Chinese halls adopt traditional Chinese central axis symmetrical layouts and a moon cave gate serves as the enclosed space’s entrance to the hall. The succinct, pinnacled space of western halls symbolises purity and reverence, and vast lake surfaces blending into one another.
