Our client was looking for a creative design solution which would incorporate an existing two story single family residence into a new addition and remodel to accommodate their growing family. We wrapped the existing structure with a standing seam metal wall to blanket the existing mass which helped integrate it with the new modern design. By bridging the second story addition over to a vertical storage wall we were able to allow visual and physical access to the surrounding redwood forest, and maintaining the view of the layered hills. This gives a peak of what lies beyond when experiencing the back of the property. The Shear Creek residence utilizes the resiliency of Alaskan yellow cedar with zinc wall panels to create a contrasting material palette.
