Shantui Factory used to be one of the largest state-owned bulldozer manufacturers in China. As the economic development pacing up, the whole factory has to be moved out of the urban area of Jining. The remained “shell”, being treated as a symbol of the old time, carries the memories of many local people. The whole area is planned to transform into a residential district with a mixed-use of retail, office, museum and community service facilities.

The idea is to connect the four old warehouse with a big cross, creating a mutualistic symbiosis relationship for the old and the new. An office tower is raised at the southeast corner to inherit the landmark from the old time.
