The concept of this project is the idea of openings and surrounding condition. This building holds of a corner of the city through two glass and concrete volumes, which relate to the exterior urban life through balconies that are highlighted in suspended steel boxes that face both streets. The “crystal box” resembles a “product” because of the image of a bar code that accentuates this concept, giving the project a theatrical meaning on the environment surrounding it.
It is located on the corner of the streets Victor Hugo and Shakespeare. The project has 5 levels with 21 apartments of 1 and 2 bedrooms, living room and dining room, fully equipped kitchen, full bathrooms and laundry room. There are 11 types of apartments, all with terraces and the last level has two apartments with a public roof garden with views to the hole city.
On the street level, the pedestrian access and two vehicular accesses are located, one goes to the basement and the other to the lobby. The pedestrian access leads to the apartments 101 and 102. The first and second levels hold five equal apartments. The third and fourth level are equal except from the apartments with access to the roof garden located on the fifth level.
The construction system for the main structure is based on concrete (columns, beams and floors), and steel terraces. The exterior materials used are mainly in exposed finishes, the interior walls are prefabricated and block walls.
