Located in a unique area where both the landscape and architectural heritage are protected, this house was designed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. It pays homage to history and traditional architecture while incorporating modern technologies and innovations.
The concept draws inspiration from traditional Lithuanian architecture, known for its simplicity, harmony with nature, and use of local materials. Key design elements include gabled roofs, wooden facades, a harmonious connection between interior and exterior spaces, and a rectangular floor plan. The basement, integrated into the slope, serves as a pedestal for tradition, elevating the essence of our historical legacy.
Timeless Wooden Facades
To enhance the sense of tradition, the facade features wood—used for centuries as the primary construction and decorative material in Lithuania. Historically, craftsmen excelled not only in construction but also in adorning facades with intricate patterns, making each structure unique. Even the simplest folk homes displayed ornamental carvings.
For this house, we chose charred wood for its durability and rich black tone, achieved through traditional preservation techniques. To honor the significance of craftsmanship, the facade incorporates modern yet expressive patterns that reflect the skill of Lithuanian artisans. Vertical wooden slats create rhythmic geometric motifs that not only add texture but also partially shield the windows, preserving privacy while allowing ample natural light to enter.
Sustainability and Harmony with Nature
The engineering solutions prioritize energy efficiency while respecting the local landscape and preserving traditions for future generations. Advanced technologies ensure low environmental impact and underline the harmony between human habitation and nature. The building integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, balancing contemporary needs with the timeless aesthetics of traditional architecture.
Tradition Meets Modernity
This house represents a synthesis of tradition and modernity, combining architectural language with cutting-edge technologies to deliver a timeless and cohesive result. It not only contributes to preserving the architectural character of the region but also offers a fresh perspective on the interaction between historical and contemporary architecture.
A lasting symbol of cultural heritage and innovation, this house exemplifies an enduring design approach that bridges the past and the future.
