Shadow Canopy is an exterior floor, column and facade treatment of pigmented cement tile (3000 sq ft, 12" each), commissioned by Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places for new construction LEED certified General Services Administration. Cement tile (also known as hydraulic or encaustic tile) is a handmade process invented in the 1800s in Europe. Four original tile designs were installed to create a dynamic sense of rhythm for the entrance to the building. Sun Blocks is a 7' x 14' handknotted wool and silk rug for the lobby of the GSA bldg.
