Located at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, BSP's design for the events center intentionally showcases the area's natural beauty. The project consists of a number of discrete form elements brought together in an informally grouped composition to serve the functional needs of the center. An events center, focus of a large planned resort development, includes an expo hall, ballroom, parking garage and extensive ancillary and support facilities.
The rotunda is the entrance hall for the center and the centerpiece for the entire development. Finishes, colors, fittings and motifs throughout were intended to evoke a seamless link to the mountainous landscape. A chevron motif enhances the large glazed areas of the concourse, which connects the entry rotunda with all the facilities of the center. Stone and dark bronze finishes evoke an up-to-date regional character. Outdoor spaces terracing down from the rotunda feature extensive indigenous landscaping.
