Setthasiri Sansai : Color of Chiang Mai
The main design concept is to bring about the “sense of place” that resonates with the feeling of authentic Chiang Mai home through research and analysis to derive design philosophy. Traditional northern Thai house open space was adopted in the design of the main entrance, common space, and approach of the houses. Traditional elements, proportion, and ornaments of the northern Thai house guided the design of “Chiang Mai space” that emphasizes the sense of ownership to provide uniqueness and identity for the project hence paving way for marketing.
The origin of this unique concept was in acute observation of “urban pixel” that comprises of color palette and Chiang Mai livelihood. The balance proportion of green, brown, and dark grey colors contributes to the Chiang Mai house identity. When combine with elements that express the sense of place namely grass field, rolling hills, and trees and mountains that made up the skyline, the concept leads to serene climatic atmosphere echoing regionalism philosophy.
