The refurbishment of Senhora do Monte 15 deserves credit for being one of the first interventions in site and for contributing to the enhancement of the area as to the renewal of the image of this traditional neighbourhood - Graça, on a level of tourism as residential.
After it has been refurbished, the building became an archetype of XX century residential architecture as well as an example of this time traditional tiles’ technique.
To the facades, an intervention plan was made to ensure the architectural pre-existing characteristics and, consequently, to frame the new materials and element of the building. The front façade masonry, tile panels, statuary and railings were restored and new dormers were added. A metal structure (balcony) was designed in the posterior façade, annexed to the exterior wall, to project the “iron architecture” concept and establish a connection with the dormer’s new material – zinc.
