From Over-Expanded City
The National Park Service
estimated approximately 190 abandoned construction barges in NYC waterfront
area. By using the “floating barges”, the project proposed incremental
expansion in this City’s already over expanded urban environment, especially
focusing on the post-assembly fabrication possibilities.
Floating Topographical
Landscape
- The new assemblage of abandoned
barges expands the ‘flat’ water front area under BrooklynBridge.
The new topographical ground surface expands the ‘flat’ barges to differentiated
landscape. At the inside of Barges, the new aqua-programs( pool, café, hotels..)
also provides ‘liveness’ to the ‘flatness’ atmosphere under FDR highway.
