Refurbishment and reorganization of the offices
of the Special Secretariat of the Secretary of State for Defence, in order to remake
the location of security personnel and add a waiting room. The area covered by
the renovation includes the atrium on the ground floor and the upstairs hallway:
the two are linked by a great neoclassical marble staircase.
The project includes a ribbon structure encircling
the space: it starts from the desk and then climbs up the stairs, driving visitors
because it brings the view on the way up. In this way it emphasized the
atrium’s vertical vocation. The security desk, in burnished metal, represents
the principle of the ribbon, and is turned towards the door.
The waiting room is at the top of the stairs:
it is a rectangular room with cherry wood parquet in a herringbone pattern and ivory
walls topped by a plaster frame. The renovation of this area provides the
revision of the space by inserting selected pieces of furniture.
