In
2001 ANS Architekten und Planer SIA AG were commissioned as general planners by
armasuisse Real Estate, the Swiss government's infrastructure agency, to design
and realise a High-Security Laboratory for the DDPS. Following intensive
preliminary work for this highly specialised task, including visits to similar
facilities in Winnipeg (CDN), Lyon (F), Atlanta und Washington, DC (USA), we
embarked on interdisciplinary cooperation with engineers and specialists to push
the project through the next stages. Construction of the Swiss centre of
expertise for nuclear, biological and chemical NBC defence in Spiez is
completed. Following intensive pre-operational and test runs, operations are
scheduled to begin in late 2010. Structural, static and technical concepts
consistently take into account the specified functionalities as well as the highest
security and safety considerations. It should be noted that containment is extremely
compact, with redundancies of all technical services to ensure highest-possible
operational safety.
