A specialty program serving learners in their early teens to twenties, Seattle World School offers support to newly-immigrated students and families during a time of transition. Education is supplemented through the offer of an on-site career center, housing resources and health care services. As the “hub” of this network, the Welcome Center is designed as a communal gathering space to help strengthen relationships among students, staff and families.
Originally designed by renowned architect Floyd Naramore, the former T.T. Minor Elementary underwent expansion and modernization to provide a new home for Seattle World School. Within an environment designed to celebrate diversity, programmatic improvements include new science classrooms, labs, a health center, and an increased student services center. Upgrades also incorporate structural and seismic scope, along with accessibility, security and infrastructure improvements.
