Searsucker Restaurant, San Diego
The design for this restaurant in the Gaslamp District of San Diego was envisioned as comfortable, playful, raw, handsome and classically American. The idea was that use and age would only improve the space, the way wear improves an old leather glove. The space mixes comfortable living room arrangements with dining areas to encourage interaction and mingling. Materials such as rough-hewn wood, old marble and rope chandeliers give the restaurant a casual elegance that has led to Open Table voting Searsucker the #2 most popular restaurant in the country.
