This
San Francisco residence had problematic spaces that included a cramped
kitchen, an inadequate family room and a dark basement level. Our
solution was a rear extension of the existing home and a modification of
the interior spaces. What resulted was a cook’s dream kitchen with an
open connection to the family room, the informal heart of the home.
Light floods these spaces through large windows, skylights and a raised
clerestory in the family room. The basement level was transformed into a
finished workshop, two-car garage, wine cellar and storage space.
