Sculptures for music festivals
Personally, I think music and design are closely related and are intertwined concepts. In 2013, I got involved in a festival called Kazantip. The festival really inspired me, and the people and the music as well as nature all blended together to transcend into incredible energy. It inspired me to create sculptures for the next festival in Cambodia. I designed this project and sent it to the person in charge of Kazantip.
The concept is an extraterrestrial space base.
The shape and a surface character create a feeling of futuristic landscape of unearthly fractal objects popping up from under the the crater-shaped ground.
After analysing and forecasting, the initial version turned out to be a bit unaffordable for the festival's needs. As a result, we were unable to proceed with it. Though I was pleased when the "crater" idea grew out of its first draft during the following festivals. Adapting to the needs Fest's managers decided to use alternative materials such as bamboo.
Unfortunately, the festival did not take place in Cambodia. However, this year it is held in its native place and with a new appearance, called BEFOOZ. Among the huge number of new sculptures and shapes, I found the way to implement the idea of crater. I am glad that BEFOOZ is charged with the particle of my imagination.
