These low-rise apartments in Porter Street, Prahran, reference both the local streets, as well as the wider context of the inner-city suburb. With many detached homes in the vicinity, including period Victorian terraces, it was important to create a boutique style development that didn’t overshadow its neighbours.
Comprising one and two-bedroom apartments, the six-storey building includes generous setbacks for the upper levels. While each apartment benefits from floor to ceiling windows, operable timber battened screens create privacy, while still ensuring diffused sunlight throughout. Given the site’s orientation, due west, this screening solution is visually attractive, as well as highly functional.
