The existing building on the plot is free plan. The location of the new building has been chosen with this in mind. The building is to be designed in the eastern part of the site, its orientation responding to the existing building, thus creating and separating the school yard and the proposed kindergarten.
The building consists of 3 volumes with flat roofs and one pitched roof. The volumes are interconnected in a way that allows for easy circular movement, with a courtyard formed in the middle to ensure that the corridor inside is light. The sloping volume shall include shop windows that allow for a view of the inner courtyard, thus connecting the spaces in front of the building and the inner courtyard. Recreational areas for children should be provided in these areas.
The volumes are of different widths and lengths, thus avoiding monotony. The volumes project differently onto Sausdravo Street to form the space in front of the entrance to the kindergarten. One of the volumes turns and is connected to the existing school. The retraction of this volume allows the creation of another recreational space.
The proposed building is one storey. Given that the construction works are planned to be divided into two phases, the second phase will consist of the construction of 6 nursery and kindergarten groups. In this context, the 6 groups are foreseen in the eastern wing. A further 6 groups are located on the south side of the building. These orientations have been chosen based on the natural lighting in the rooms. The technical rooms are located on the northern side of the site. The assembly hall and the sports hall are provided in the western wing. The administrative rooms, common educational spaces, common sanitary facilities, speech therapists and psychologist's offices are in the central volume of the building.
Each group is divided into several rooms/areas. There is a sleeping room, a sanitary room, a separate changing area, and a kitchenette.
