Typology of the school gymnasium “Gymnasium next to the classroom”
A common type of school gymnasium, added to existing schools, is to create separate buildings and link schools and gyms. The gymnasium is a separate space and does not become the center of the school. The “Classroom Gymnasium” type proposed in this project expands the corridor space of existing schools and utilizes it as a free space for students who can have various activities. The gym and the classroom are physically and visually connected so that the gym will be the center of school life.
‘Stand for All’
The space that mediates between the existing teacher building and the enlarged gymnasium was planned as a space where various events were possible beyond the function of a simple connecting passage. As the name of 'Stand for All' stands, it is a stand for watching the events of the gymnasium, a vertical circulation that helps move between floors, green spaces on the 4th floor, rest areas, and toilets and showers. We actively expanded the hallway space by taking an idea from the fact that the corridor space created along the classroom becomes not only a moving space but also a play / rest space for students during breaks.
