The dedicated site for S.C.Techno School is located at Jp Nagar of Bangalore which is about 22km away from the CBD. The site measures of 49m wide and 300m in length, which is about 14,700msq. of area. It’s a dry narrow site with clean flat surface, approached from two different entries. The site is surrounded with residential plots.
The idea was to make the building more climate sensitive, the long spine of the building running east- west axis is been broken into four different blocks, which further helped in getting maximum north light, so as to minimize the use of artificial lighting in the day time. The movement between the blocks are embedded in a central tunnel space which was a major added point in terms of wind flow and the functional spaces are connected with the bridges which is sandwiched between the green spaces, also converts to a multi functional spaces. The East, North and South facades are treated with fabricated jally to bring the touch of playfulness of shadows inside the Building.¬¬¬¬
Site Approach - The site has two different approaches, the vehicular entry is been dedicated through the busy highway and the pedestrian entry is through the residential area.
Site Analysis - The site is surrounded by residential areas on all three sides and with a busy highway on the other side which makes the noise to the site. Since it’s a narrow site as you move away from the highway the depth of noise reduces and becomes silent zone.
Zoning - In consideration of noise and traffic both inside and outside the site, we pushed the main school block towards the rear side of the plot which further created a buffer space between the noisy traffic and the school.
Orientation - The building is contextual in terms of orientation along with the site. The longer spine of the building is oriented in East - West axis to welcome more north light into the building.
