A residential complex in the middle of the hip district. ‘SAVVI’ (as derived from ‘savvy’) was the name given by the owner as the word perfectly described the people around the area. To attract the potential buyer, the sharp-edged elements were introduced to the façade and act as the framing elements. The ARI district in Bangkok is long perceived as the expressive / young / energetic. Though also very crowded, more and more retails, café and hi-end residential are popping up around the area. The façade need to really standout and being really expressive to suit the user characteristic.
Even though it is desirable to be able to live in the area, the actual physical attainable is extremely limited due to land availability and cost. buildings are so close to each other and the views are limited. The façade has to have secondary function to act as an ‘aperture’ – directing the visual exposure of the user to the appropriate direction.
Combing two main aspect of the façade described above, the architect then started from the simple rectangular frame. Which then extruded and skewed in various direction purposely. The result then treated in modular element and then placed over the façade considering the appropriate location and visual direction.
Material selection also needs to be expressive, the copper colored aluminum cladding panels was chosen to add ‘bling’ factor to the architecture and sharp yet sleek appearance
