the project aims to return quality to the area by a careful work of
tissue mending establishing continuity between the different physical
parts. the integration of the built environment with green areas through
alternative routes would ensure greater visitability of entire area
allowing a greater accessibility to commercial and residential areas.
large green areas separate from the main roads would also set free
enjoyment, recreation and relaxation.
starting from a careful analysis of the context, the project intends to
reestablish a fruitful relationship of creative interaction with the
memorial site. the diagram of the old town overlaid to the
morphogenetic lines, as a part of the current urban configuration.
the drawing space acts by layers: the two images overlap so that none
will prevail over the other. Each of them represents an autonomous
system, a text which overlap with another system retains the
differences, rejects any process of seamless integration but rather a
process of mutual contamination.
The deformation of the first diagrammatic layer (the tissue of the
ancient city) along the morphogenetic lines creates a new tissue
construction. This operational strategy creeps between things as a
connective suture able to heal the wounds of the city and to regenerate
urban space from the same genetic patrimony.
The flow lines that constitute the system of relations between the major
poles attractors of project area (intermodal Exchange
node-Third-Railway station square) define the drawing of a single
connector that folds on multiple levels and cut according to several
directions to distribute traffic flows (car, bicycle and pedestrian)
towards the city centre.
